Mexican Charged With Re-Entering U.S. After Deportation
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Pittsburgh has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of re-entry into the United States after deportation, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The one-count indictment named Alejandro Perez-Diaz, 41, of Mexico, as the sole defendant.
According to indictment, Alejandro Perez-Diaz, an alien, was formally removed from the United States by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement on November 23, 1999, and May 25, 2005. Alejandro Perez-Diaz was found on October 25, 2011, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant. Defendant has been placed on detention.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
