Houtzdale Man Indicted on Child Pornography Charge

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - On Nov. 15, 2011, a resident of Houtzdale, Pa., was indicted by a federal grand jury in Johnstown on a charge of possession of child pornography United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

The one-count indictment named Brandon J. Brothers, 29.

According to the indictment presented to the court, on Oct. 6, 2010, Brothers knowingly possessed videos and images as computer graphic files containing images of child pornography, which had been shipped and transported in interstate or foreign commerce.

The law provides for a maximum of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.  Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., is prosecuting this case on behalf of the United States.

Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Pittsburgh, Pa., conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.

An indictment is an accusation.  A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
