Judge Sentences Crack Cocaine Dealer To 12 Years In Prison
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Pittsburgh has been sentenced in federal court to 151 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, on his conviction of violating the federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Chief United States District Judge Gary L. Lancaster imposed the sentence on Raymond Allen Brown, 38.
According to information presented to the court, on four dates in August, November, and December2009 and January2010, Brown sold crack cocaine to individuals in Beaver Falls and New Brighton, Pa. On March 12, 2010 agents with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office served a search warrant for Brown's Chevy Blazer, from which they seized a can with a false bottom. Inside the can was more than 1/2 of an ounce of crack cocaine and a digital scale.
Brown was sentenced as a career offender, based on prior convictions in Western Pennsylvania for homicide in the third degree, and armed robbery. Career offender status subjects a defendant to increased penalties when they subsequently commit felony drug offenses.
Assistant United States Attorney Gregory J. Nescott prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Raymond Brown.
