Kittanning Woman Sentenced To Time Served For Participating In Counterfeiting Scheme
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Kittanning, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to time served with 30 months supervised release on her conviction of a charge of conspiracy, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Terrence F. McVerry imposed the sentence on Sahaua M. Gervasoni, 21.
According to information presented to the court, Gervasoni and four other co-conspirators engaged in the manufacturing and use of thousands of dollars in counterfeit money throughout Western Pennsylvania. Gervasoni and her co-conspirators would knowingly use counterfeit money at convenience stores to buy items which were minimal in value in order to receive substantial amounts of genuine currency as change during the period of March 2009 through May 2009.
Assistant United States Attorney James T. Kitchen prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the United States Secret Service for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Gervasoni.
