JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - A resident of Seward, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to five years probation and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $15,190 to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development on her conviction of conversion of government funds, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Kimberly Barelich-Berry, 46.

According to information presented to the court, from Sept. 19, 2002, to Jan. 1, 2005, Barelich-Berry did falsely receive and convert to her own use approximately $15,190, which represents approximately 27 separate Section 8 housing assistance subsidies from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development to which Barelich-Berry was not entitled.

Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie L. Haines prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Inspector General, for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Barelich-Berry.
