Prosecution is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods Initiative

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - A resident of Alum Bank, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to 37 months in prison, three years supervised release and ordered to pay $6,235 in restitution to Long's Outpost, Inc., on his conviction of burglary of a federal firearms licensee, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Remington D. Stufft, 27.

According to information presented to the court, on July 25, 2009, Stufft burglarized the premises of a federal firearms licensee who was doing business as Long's Outpost, Inc., in New Paris, Pa., and stole a number of firearms which were inventory of the business and which had been shipped and transported in interstate and foreign commerce.

Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie L. Haines prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

According to U.S. Attorney Hickton, this case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort by federal, state and local law enforcement, agencies, prosecutors and communities to prevent, deter, and prosecute gun crime.

Mr. Hickton commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Stufft.
