Convicted Sex Offender Sentenced To 17 Months In Prison For Failing To Register

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Akron, Ohio, was sentenced in federal court to serve 17 months in prison followed by 10 years supervised release for failing to register as a convicted sex offender after engaging in interstate travel, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

Anthony Tyler, age 37, was sentenced by Senior United States District Judge Gustave Diamond.

Tyler, after having been convicted of gross sexual imposition in Ohio, traveled interstate and knowingly failed to register or to update his registration as a sex offender.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.

The United States Marshals Service and the Summit County (Ohio) Sheriff's Office conducted the investigation that led to the conviction of Tyler.
