Mexican Sentenced To Prison For Illegally Re-Entering U.S.
ERIE, PA - A resident of Guanajuato, Mexico, has been sentenced in federal court to 8 months in jail on his conviction of violating federal immigration laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Sean J. McLaughlin imposed the sentence on Noe Saldana-Luna, 22.
According to information presented to the court, on or about May 1, 2011, Saldana-Luna was found to be unlawfully present within the United States. Saldana-Luna had been previously ordered deported and removed from the United States in absentia on February 23, 2006 and was removed from the United States on March 21, 2011. The defendant subsequently reentered the United States, and was found to be present in this country without the permission of the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
Assistant United States Attorney Christine A. Sanner prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection and the Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Saldana-Luna.
