
Deported Guatemalan Sentenced To Time Served For Illegally Returning To United States
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A former resident of McKeesport, Pa., pleaded guilty to and has been sentenced in federal court on a charge of re-entry into the United States after deportation, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Rene Santiago-Cotzalo, 26, a citizen of Guatemala, pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to time served before Senior United States District Judge Maurice B. Cohill.
In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that Santiago-Cotzalo, an alien, was formally removed from the United States by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement on March 6, 2005. Santiago-Cotzalo was found on Sept. 12, 2011, in Irwin, Pa.
Assistant United States Attorney Paul E. Hull is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Rene Santiago-Cotzalo.
