Two Charged In Heroin Trafficking Conspiracy
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Two residents of Pittsburgh, Pa., have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The one-count superseding indictment, returned on Oct. 26, named Snowley Brooks, 38, and Mark Williams, 30, as defendants in this case.
According to the superseding indictment, between 2008 and Feb. 1, 2010, Brooks and Williams conspired with others to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of life imprisonment, including a mandatory minimum of 10 years, a fine of $4 million, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Margaret E. Picking is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
