Former Bookkeeper Pleads Guilty To Embezzling Union Funds
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Allegheny County pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of embezzlement and theft of labor union assets, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Jennine M. Prince, 41, of Allison Park, Pa., pleaded guilty to one count before United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab.
In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that Prince was the former bookkeeper of Ironworkers Local 3 where she embezzled $418,070.96 of union funds for her own use by writing and cashing unauthorized union checks and taking cash dues receipts.
Judge Schwab scheduled sentencing for January 13, 2012. The law provides for a total sentence of five years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Nelson P. Cohen is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The U.S. Department of Labor conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Jennine M. Prince.
