PITTSBURGH, Pa.- A resident of Kittanning, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to six months imprisonment followed by three years supervised release on her conviction of a charge of conspiracy, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

United States District Judge Terrence F. McVerry imposed the sentence on Kimberly A. Faber, 31.

According to information presented to the court, Faber and four other co-conspirators engaged in the manufacturing and use of thousands of dollars in counterfeit currency at various stores throughout Western Pennsylvania during the period from March 2009 through May 2009.  Faber and her co-conspirators would knowingly use counterfeit money at convenience stores to buy items which were minimal in value in order to receive substantial amounts of genuine currency as change.

Assistant United States Attorney James T. Kitchen prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the United States Secret Service for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Faber.
