Judge Sentences Pittsburgh Man To 5 Years In Prison For Heroin Trafficking Scheme
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Pittsburgh has been sentenced in federal court to 60 months incarceration, to be followed by five years supervised release, on his conviction of violating the federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Terrence F. McVerry imposed the sentence on Robert S. Vaughns, 24.
According to information presented to the court, between 2009 and April 2011, Vaughns conspired to distribute nearly 400 grams of heroin in Western Pennsylvania. Sixteen other individuals were charged in the drug conspiracy with Vaughns, with nine of those previously entering guilty pleas. The remainder are awaiting trial.
Assistant United States Attorney Gregory J. Nescott prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Robert Vaughns.
