Penn Hills Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Conspiring to Distribute Heroin
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Penn Hills has been sentenced in federal court to 10 years and one month incarceration, to be followed by five years supervised release, on his conviction of violating the federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Terrence F. McVerry imposed the sentence on James Theodore Green, 29.
According to information presented to the court, between 2009 and April 2011, Green conspired to distribute between one and three kilograms (2.2 - 6.6 pounds) of heroin in Western Pennsylvania. One kilogram of uncut heroin would be expected to yield at least 25,000 to 50,000 individual bags, or dosage units, of heroin. Sixteen other individuals were charged in the drug conspiracy with Green, with 10 of those previously entering guilty pleas. The remainder are awaiting trial.
Assistant United States Attorney Gregory J. Nescott prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of James Theodore Green.
