Pittsburgh Woman Sentenced For Stealing Social Security Benefits

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Pittsburgh, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to six months imprisonment followed by three years supervised release on her conviction of a charge of theft of government property, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

United States District Judge GaryL. Lancaster imposed the sentence on Angela Crosby, 41.

According to information presented to the court, Crosby received Social Security benefits under two different names and Social Security numbers from January 2008 through July 2010.

Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Office of the Inspector General for the Social Security Administration, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Crosby.
