Pittsburgh Man Facing Federal Drug Charges
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Pittsburgh, Pa., has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal drug laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The two-count indictment named Michquel Curington, a/k/a Michael Currington, 37, as the sole defendant.
According to the indictment presented to the court, in September 2010, Curington conspired to distribute, possessed with intent to distribute, and distributed heroin.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 60 years in prison, a fine of $4,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, in conjunction with investigators from the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office and the Pittsburgh Police, conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
