Westmoreland County Vet Sentenced To Probation, Fined For Filing A False Tax Return
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of North Huntingdon, Penn., has been sentenced in federal court to five years probation and a $30,000 fine on her conviction of filing a false tax return, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Senior United States District Judge Alan N. Bloch imposed the sentence on Lisa A. Findlay.
According to information presented to the court, veterinarian (and former CPA) Lisa A. Findlay falsified her personal income tax returns, as well as the corporate returns for Countryside Veterinary Hospital, Inc., for the calendar years 2002-2006, by diversion of funds from the corporation, which she concealed by falsification of the corporate tax return. The total amount of corporate funds diverted during the five-year period was $272,199.13, which resulted in a tax loss to the federal government of $79,414.00.
Judge Bloch ordered the defendant to pay all taxes, penalties and interest within 90 days of sentencing.
Assistant United States Attorney Leo M. Dillon prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Findlay.
