Allegheny County Woman Sentenced to Probation for Failing to File Corporate and Personal Income Tax Returns
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Allegheny County, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to five years probation, with the condition that she spend the first nine months in home confinement, on her conviction of willfully failing to file an income tax return, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Mark Hornak imposed the sentence on Maureen Dugan.
According to information presented to the court, on or before Sept. 15, 2006, Dugan, formerly the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Dugan’s Residential Care, Inc., located in Cheswick, Pa., failed to file a corporate income tax return (Form 1120) for the calendar year 2005, as required by law, resulting in a tax loss to the Internal Revenue Service of $128,706.00. Dugan further accepted responsibility for failing to file corporate and personal income tax returns for each of the years 2003 through 2006, for a total tax loss to the Internal Revenue Service of between $200,000 and $400,000.
Assistant United States Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Internal Revenue Service for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Dugan.
