Pittsburgh Man Charged With Possessing Heroin And Gun
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Lloyd Irish has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh for violating federal narcotics trafficking and firearms laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The two-count indictment, returned on March 6 and unsealed today, names Irish, 27, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as the sole defendant.
According to the indictment, Irish, on July 6, 2011, possessed 100 grams or more of heroin with intent to distribute and possessed a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of at least 10 years and up to life in prison, a fine of up to $8,250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller is prosecuting this case on behalf of the United States.
The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police investigated the case leading to the indictment of Irish.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
