Pittsburgh Man Charged With Violating Federal Drug Laws
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - One resident of Pittsburgh, Pa., has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal drug laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The three-count indictment, returned on March 21, named Davee Ward, 21, as the sole defendant.
According to the indictment presented to the court, Ward conspired to distribute and possessed with intent to distribute heroin from January 2010 to August 2010. In addition, the indictment charges Ward with distribution of heroin on Jan. 26, 2010, and July 20, 2010.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not less than five years and up to 40 years in prison, a fine of $1,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office and the Pittsburgh Police conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
