
Altoona Man Sentenced to Prison for Violating Counterfeiting Laws
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - A resident of Altoona, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to ten months in prison and three years supervised release on his conviction of violating counterfeit laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Dennis R. Knarr, 24.
According to information presented to the court, on Jan. 28, 2011, Knarr presented to another individual 37 falsely made counterfeit Federal Reserve notes in various denominations.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie L. Haines prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
Mr. Hickton commended the United States Secret Service and the Altoona Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Knarr.
