Monroeville Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Armed Bank Robbery, Gun Law Violations
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Monroeville, Pa., was sentenced in federal court on Oct. 19, 2012, to 125 months imprisonment and five years supervised release on his conviction of armed bank robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti imposed the sentence on Britton Davis, 31.
According to information presented to the court, Davis robbed the S&T Bank located at 4251 Old William Penn Highway, Murrysville, Pa. During the robbery, he pointed a firearm at several tellers. As a result of the robbery, Davis obtained a total amount of $10,033.30. Additionally, after having been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year, Davis possessed an RGI, Model 14S, .22 caliber revolver. Federal law prohibits anyone who has been convicted of a crime punishable by a term of imprisonment exceeding one year to possess a firearm or ammunition.
Assistant United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Murrysville Police Department and the Westmoreland County Detective Bureau for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Davis.
