Career Offender Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Possessing Heroin
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - On August 30, 2012, a resident of Pittsburgh, Pa., was sentenced in federal court to 121 months imprisonment and five years supervised release on his conviction of violating federal drug laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak imposed the sentence on Bruce Leon Proctor, 28.
According to information presented to the court, on Jan. 10, 2012, Proctor was on pre-release from a 7-15 year prison term for four separate felony drug cases and a separate gun case involving a prohibited offensive weapon. On that date Proctor possessed 110 individually packaged doses of heroin, outside the Aces & Duces bar in the Hill District, that he intended to sell.
Prior to imposing sentence, Judge Hornak stated that the defendant's criminal record and current felony drug offense make him a career offender under federal law.
Assistant United States Attorney Ross E. Lenhardt prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Proctor.
