Post Office Supervisor Sentenced to Probation, Fined for Faking Assault
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Greensburg, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to five years probation, restitution in the amount of $3,633.36 and a fine in the amount of $5,000.00 on his conviction of workmen's compensation fraud and false statements, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Senior United States District Judge Alan N. Bloch imposed the sentence on Jeffrey Allen Gogets, 51.
According to information presented to the court, Gogets was a supervisor at the Jeanette, Pa., Post Office. He alleged that he was assaulted and robbed at the Post Office. He applied for and received worker’s compensation. Gogets staged the assault and made misrepresentations to Post Office personnel.
Assistant United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the United States Postal Inspection Service for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Gogets.
