Swissvale Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Illegally Possessing Firearm
PITTSBURGH - A resident of Swissvale has been sentenced in federal court to 64 months in prison on his conviction of violating federal firearms laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Senior United States District Judge Gustave Diamond imposed the sentence on Julian Crosby, 28.
According to information presented to the court, on Aug. 6, 2011, Crosby, a convicted felon, possessed a firearm. Since Crosby has previously been convicted of felony offenses, federal law prohibits him from possessing a firearm.
This case is being prosecuted under Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and communities to prevent, deter and prosecute gun crime.
Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Julian Crosby.
