DOMINICAN NATIONAL PREVIOUSLY DEPORTED THREE TIMES
SENTENCED TO 70 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY

 

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Domingo Torres-Rodriguez, 39, of Pawtucket, R.I., a Dominican national with a lengthy criminal record and who was previously deported three times, was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge William E. Smith to 70 months in federal prison for illegal re-entry. Torres-Rodriguez was arrested in November 2010 on drug and identity fraud charges by Pawtucket Police.

The sentencing of Torres-Rodriguez was announced by U.S. Attorney Peter F. Neronha and Bruce M. Foucart, Special Agent in Charge of ICE-Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Boston.

According to court documents, Torres-Rodriguez’s violent felony criminal record dates back to 1990. He was previously deported in March 1992, March 1999 and February 2006 following felony convictions for drugs and an assault. 

Following his arrest in November 2010, Torres-Rodriguez admitted to immigration agents that he returned to the United States in 2008 by ship to Philadelphia.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zechariah Chafee. The matter was investigated by ICE-HSI

Torres-Rodriguez is awaiting trial in Rhode Island state court on drug and identity fraud charges brought by Pawtucket Police.
