Pawtucket Crack Cocaine Dealer Sentenced to Nearly Six years in Federal Prison

PROVIDENCE, RI – Juan Franco, 33, was sentenced on Thursday in U.S. District Court in Providence to 70 months in federal prison for trafficking crack cocaine, announced United States Attorney Peter F. Neronha and Pawtucket Police Chief Paul King.

U.S. District Court Judge John J. McConnell, Jr. also sentenced Franco to serve five years of supervised release upon completion of his prison term. Franco pled guilty on March 26, 2012, to one count of distribution of cocaine base.

According to information presented to the court, on January 17, 2012, Pawtucket Police executed a court authorized search of Franco’s residence during which they seized approximately 64 grams of crack cocaine, 19 grams of cocaine, and numerous items and supplies used in the manufacture and distribution of crack cocaine. The court authorized search of Franco’s residence was requested by Pawtucket Police during an ongoing investigation, which included two undercover purchases of crack cocaine from Franco.

Franco has been detained since his arrest.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Milind M. Shah.
