Rosebud Man Pleads Guilty to Assault with a Dangerous Weapon

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Edward Leon Wilson, age 28, of Rosebud, South Dakota, appeared before United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange on December 6, 2010, and pled guilty to Count I of an indictment that charged him with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years' imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, or both; up to three years of supervised release; and a $100 special assessment. Restitution may also be ordered.

The charge relates to Wilson using his shod feet to assault a female in Todd County on March 21, 2010. The investigation was conducted by Rosebud Law Enforcement Services. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher.

A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for March 1, 2011. The defendant was released on bond and must self-report to the U.S. Marshal on December 27, 2010.
