Rosebud Man Arraigned on Charges of First Degree Burglary, Larceny, Possession of Stolen Firearms, and Aiding and Abetting

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rosebud, South Dakota, man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for unlawfully entering the home of another person in Todd County on September 24, 2010. He and two other men then stole several firearms and firearm accessories.

Jesse Andrews, age 21, was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 13, 2010, for First Degree Burglary, Larceny, Possession of Stolen Firearms, and Aiding and Abetting. He appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on January 4, 2011, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 25 years' imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, or both; up to 5 years of supervised release; and a $100 special assessment. Restitution may also be ordered. The charges are merely accusations, and Andrews is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by Rosebud Law Enforcement Services. Assistant United States Attorney Megan N. Dilges is prosecuting the case. Andrews was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has been set for March 1, 2011.
