Mission Man Sentenced for Structuring Bank Transactions

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Mission man charged with Structuring Currency Transactions was sentenced on January 12, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Earl Matthew Bordeaux, Jr., age 56, was sentenced to 30 months in custody.

Bordeaux was indicted by a federal grand jury in March 2010. The charge stems from the structuring of financial transactions at a Pierre bank to avoid the bank filing reports of currency transactions of large amounts of cash. This case was investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service, the United States Attorney's Office, and the Department of Interior-Office of Inspector General. Assistant U.S. Attorneys David L. Zuercher and Jeremy Jehangiri prosecuted the case.

Bordeaux was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
