Mission Man Arraigned on Assault Charges

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Mission, South Dakota, man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for assaulting a female and two officers in Todd County on September 30, 2010.

Eric R. Roubideaux, age 37, was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 11, 2011, for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and Assaulting a Federal Officer. He appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on January 21, 2011, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 20 years of imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, or both; up to 3 years of supervised release; and a $100 special assessment. Restitution may also be ordered. The charge is merely an accusation, and Roubideaux is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by Rosebud Law Enforcement Services. Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher is prosecuting the case. Roubideaux was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
