Pukwana man arraigned on three separate indictments

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Pukwana man has been indicted under three separate indictments by a federal grand jury for Bank Burglary, Bank Larceny, and Aiding & Abetting; Sexual Abuse; and Third Degree Burglary and Aiding & Abetting.

Kelly W. McGhee, Jr., age 21, was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 11, 2011. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on February 7, 2011, and pled not guilty to the charges in all three indictments. The charge of Bank Burglary carries the highest punishment with a maximum penalty upon conviction of 20 years' imprisonment. The charges are merely accusations, and McGhee is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigations are being conducted by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, the Jerauld County Sheriff's Department, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Crow Creek Agency, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman is prosecuting the cases. McGhee was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
