
Ft. Thompson Man Pleads Guilty to Assaulting a Federal Officer

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Patrick Wind, age 18, of Ft. Thompson, appeared before U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on February 8, 2011, and pled guilty to an Information that charged Assaulting a Federal Officer in violation of 18 U.S.C. ยง 111. The maximum penalty upon conviction is one year of imprisonment. In August 2010, while Officers Jamie Burdick and Molanna Clifford were working as law enforcement officers for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Crow Creek Agency, they were in the process of detaining the defendant when he began to forcibly resist, impede, and interfere with the officers, including spitting in the officers' faces. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for April 2, 2011. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing. |
