
Rapid City Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of a Stolen Firearm

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Wayne C. Richards, age 19, of Rapid City, South Dakota, appeared before U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on March 28, 2011, and pled guilty to Count II of an indictment that charged him with Possession of a Stolen Firearm. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years' imprisonment. The charge stems from November 2010 when Richards came to possess a stolen firearm. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Marie H. Ruettgers. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for June 13, 2011. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing. |
