
Rosebud Woman and Mission Man Charged with Distribution of a Controlled Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rosebud, South Dakota, woman and a Mission, South Dakota, man have been indicted by a federal grand jury for Distribution of a Controlled Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance. Brittany Shaw, age 31, and Matthew Scott, age 22, were indicted by a federal grand jury on April 12, 2011. They appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on April 18, 2011, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 5 years’ custody, a $250,000 fine, or both; two years of supervised release; and a $100 special assessment. Restitution may also be ordered. The charges are merely accusations, and Shaw and Scott are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jay Miller. Shaw and Scott were released on bond. |
