Mission Man Sentenced on Assault Charge

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Mission man charged with Assaulting a Federal Officer was sentenced on September 14, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange. John Denoyer, age 29, was sentenced to 2 years of probation, including 8 months of home confinement.

The charge stems from an incident In September of 2009 involving a domestic violence incident between Denoyer and his wife in their home in Todd County. Law enforcement was called and arrived on the scene. An officer found Denoyer in a back bedroom and attempted to arrest him. Denoyer did not comply with the officer's commands, and a struggle ensued, causing physical contact between the officer and Denoyer. During the struggle, the officer and Denoyer fell into the bedroom window, causing the glass to break.

Denoyer pled guilty to the charge in June 2011.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges.
