
Ft. Thompson Man Sentenced on Sexual Abuse Charge

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Ft. Thompson man charged with Abusive Sexual Contact was sentenced on November 28, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Dakota Red Bear a/k/a Cody Red Bear, age 25, was sentenced to 120 months in custody and 5 years of supervised release.
Red Bear was indicted by a federal grand jury in August 2011. He pled guilty to a Superseding Indictment in September 2011.
The conviction stems from an incident in October 2010 when the minor victim was home alone one evening, and around 2:00 a.m., the defendant came home and used force to sexually abuse the victim.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuted the case.
Red Bear was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal to begin serving his sentence.
