
Pine Ridge Man Arraigned on Charge of Sexual Abuse of a Minor

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Pine Ridge man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Sexual Abuse of a Minor. Wilbur Toledo Flute, age 36, was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 19, 2011, for Sexual Abuse of a Minor. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on January 21, 2011, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is any term of years to life imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. The charge is merely an accusation, and Flute is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Carolyn G. Olson is prosecuting the case. Flute was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
