Lead Man Sentenced on Drug Conspiracy

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Lead man charged with Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance was sentenced on January 21, 2011, by US District Judge Karen E. Schreier. William Classon, age 60, was sentenced to 120 months’ imprisonment, 5 years supervised release and a $100 victims' assessment.
Classon was indicted by a federal grand jury on May 19, 2009. Between 2001 and 2006, he was involved in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in Rapid City that was obtained in Denver. Classon pled guilty on October 12, 2010.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team. Assistant US Attorney Mark A. Vargo prosecuted the case.
Classon was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshal.
