Kyle Man Sentenced 36 Months' Jail Time for Abusive Sexual Contact

      US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a man charged with Abusive Sexual Contact was sentenced on January 14, 2011, by US District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Kevin Lloyd Bull Bear, age 46, of Kyle, was sentenced to 36 months' incarceration, 5 years' supervised release, and ordered to pay $100 to the Victims' Assistance Fund.

      Bull Bear was indicted for Sexual Abuse by a federal grand jury on June 15, 2010. In July of 2009, Bull Bear had sexual contact with a woman who was incapable of participating in the act. He pled guilty to a superseding information on October 14, 2010, charging him with Abusive Sexual Contact.

      The case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety. Assistant US Attorney Carolyn G. Olson prosecuted the case.

      Bull Bear was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshal.
