
Seattle Man Guilty of Transporting Cocaine for Distribution

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Alberto Juarez-Nino, age 27, of Seattle, appeared before US District Judge Richard H. Battey on January 25, 2011, and pled guilty to an Indictment that charged him with Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance. The penalty upon conviction is a minimum 5 years and up to 40 years imprisonment and/or a $2,000,000 fine.
In January of 2007 after a traffic stop by the South Dakota Highway Patrol, it was discovered that Juarez-Nino was involved in preparing a load of cocaine for transport and distribution from Washington to an unknown location. The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Mark A. Vargo.
A presentence investigation was ordered and a sentencing date was set for April 12, 2011. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the US Marshal pending sentencing.
