Rapid City Man Indicted on Drug Charges

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for drug conspiracy and distribution of drugs.

Jaret Alan Hagar, a/k/a Jarret Alan Hagar, age 26, of Rapid City, was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 19, 2011, for Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Distribution of a Controlled Substance.

He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on February 9, 2011, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 5 years imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. The charges are merely accusations, and Hagar is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the DEA, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Carolyn G. Olson is prosecuting the case. Hagar was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not yet been set.
