US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a West Yorkshire, England, woman charged with Failure to Pay Legal Child Support was sentenced on February 25, 2011, by US District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Dawn L. Zwetzig, age 37, was sentenced to pay a $10 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund and child support restitution in the amount of $12,197.37.
Zwetzig was indicted for failing to pay nearly $12,000 in past due child support by a federal grand jury on July 7, 2010. She was ordered by the Fourth Judicial Circuit Court, Meade County, South Dakota, to pay $345.26 per month for her minor child, commencing February 1, 2005. At the time of indictment, Zwetzig had made payments in May and June of 2010; however, prior to that, she had not made a child support payment since February of 2008, and the total arrearage amount was $11,967.34. She pled guilty to the charge on February 25, 2011.
This case was investigated the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. Assistant US Attorneys Thomas J. Wright and Robert Mandel prosecuted the case.
