Idaho Man Sentenced to 41 Months in Custody for Illegal Possession of a Firearm

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a man charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm was sentenced on March 2, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Brandon Spurway, age 28, of Rathdrum, Idaho, was sentenced to 41 months' incarceration, three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $100 to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Spurway was indicted for Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful User of a Controlled Substance in Possession of a Firearm by a federal grand jury on September 21, 2010. He pled to count II of an indictment (Felon in Possession of a Firearm) on December 16, 2010. Spurway was previously convicted of felonies in the states of Washington and Idaho.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Ted L. McBride prosecuted the case.

Spurway was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
