United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Wanblee man charged with Involuntary Manslaughter was sentenced on March 8, 2011, by US District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Chad Lee Doyle, age 33, was sentenced to 36 months of imprisonment, three years of supervised release, a $100 victim assessment, and $8,664.37 restitution.

Doyle was indicted by a federal grand jury on October 19, 2010. In August 2010, Doyle was under the influence of alcohol while operating a motor vehicle. His intoxication caused him to drive in an unsafe manner, resulting in him making a U-turn without using his turn signal or checking the traffic behind him. A pickup truck approached to pass where Doyle's vehicle was stopped, and Doyle's sudden U-turn caused Doyle's car to "t-bone" the truck on the passenger side. The pickup truck rolled multiple times, compressing the cab on the passenger side and killing the passenger. He pled guilty on December 2, 2010.

This case was investigated by OST-DPS, BIA and the SDHP. Assistant US Attorney Carolyn G. Olson prosecuted the case.

Doyle was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshal.
