US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Phoenix, Arizona, man charged with Failure to Pay Legal Child Support was sentenced on April 1, 2011, by US District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Steven L. Donaldson, age 41, was sentenced to imprisonment for a total term of time served, supervised release of 90 days, a special assessment of $100 to the Victim Assistance fund, and child support restitution in the amount of $36.621.79.
Donaldson was indicted for failing to pay over $36,000 in past due child support by a federal grand jury on August 3, 2010. At the time of indictment, one payment had been received in March of 2010. Prior to that date, Donaldson had not made a child support payment since March 2009, and the total arrearage amount was $36,621.79. Donaldson pled guilty to the charge on April 1, 2011.
This case was investigated the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. Assistant US Attorneys Thomas J. Wright and Carolyn G. Olson prosecuted the case.
