
Pine Ridge Man Indicted for Stealing from School

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Pine Ridge man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for breaking into a school on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and stealing computers and computer equipment, as well as other items.
Gaven Youngman, a/k/a Gaven Afraid of His Horses, age 30, was indicted by a federal grand jury on May 17, 2011, for Larceny. He appeared before US Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on May 20, 2011, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is five years’ imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. The charge is merely an accusation, and Youngman is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The investigation is being conducted by the BIA. Assistant US Attorney Eric Kelderman is prosecuting the case. Youngman was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not yet been set.
