                        United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Daniel Hermitano Diaz, a/k/a Guillermo Espinoza, age 47, of Denver, appeared before US District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on June 24, 2011, and pled guilty to a charge of Illegal Reentry After Deportation.  The maximum penalty upon conviction is two years of imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. 
 
                          In June 2011, after being arrested by the Rapid City Police Department for disorderly conduct and panhandling, Diaz was found to be living in the United States illegally, having previously been deported to Mexico.  The investigation was conducted by the Rapid City Police Department and the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Robert A. Mandel. 
                             
                          A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for August 1, 2011.  The defendant was remanded to the custody of the US Marshal pending sentencing.
