Denver Man Sentenced For Illegally Reentering the U.S. After Deportation

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Denver man charged with Illegal Reentry After Deportation was sentenced on August 1, 2011, by US District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Daniel Hermitano Diaz, a/k/a Guillermo Espinoza, age 47, was sentenced to time served.
Diaz was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 7, 2011. In June 2011, after being arrested by the Rapid City Police Department for disorderly
conduct and panhandling, Diaz was found to be living in the United States illegally, having previously been deported to Mexico. He pled guilty on June 24, 2011.
This case was investigated by the Rapid City Police Department and the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Assistant US Attorney Robert A. Mandel prosecuted the case.
