United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Washington woman charged with Use or Production of a Counterfeit Access Device was sentenced on August 29, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Jeanie Lynn Swanson, age 27, was sentenced to 24 months of imprisonment, three years of supervised release, a $100 victim assessment, and $9,391.87 in restitution.
Swanson was originally indicted by a federal grand jury on August 17, 2010. In June 2010, at Rapid City, Swanson knowingly used an altered, fraudulent credit card linked to another person to pay for car repairs. She pled guilty on May 27, 2011.
This case was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case.
Swanson was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
